countless mintues on the phone (with 4 various offices of the internet provider . . . in French) . . .
bad advice from the internet provider . . .
and 3 modems later (the first two were outdated models and did not work) . . .
the internet at my house is FINALLY working!!!!

PS - And thank you to my teammate Paul who came over - discovered I did not have the "wire" connections for the instructions I was given, and showed me how to connect everything to make the new modem work.
