As mentioned in the last blog post – I recently travelled into the bush to visit a village school … Tinadakal. A tiny village so small, it doesn’t register on a map! But, the trip took us on a road parallel to the river, and the view was gorgeous – both of the river and beyond.
Passing a watering hole covering the road:
The river valley … lush and verdant even though it is dry season, I would love to see the green explode in rainy season!
A lady carrying a jar of water on her head – likely having drawn the water from the river beyond … maybe a well.
I loved the name of this village:
Travelling through the fields – the last stretch of our journey – in the words of our guide “Follow the Road!!”
Part of the Village:
Where the sand dune flowed onto the road …. we weren’t quite sure at this point, but the road reappeared on the other side!
Stopping for Traffic:
The goats climbing the trees to eat always makes me giggle!
A village on the road with an astronomical collection of granaries!! In the Fulani villages – each family constructs their granaries in their fields …. this village apparently builds all the village granaries in one location!
Soon after this village, we were on the outskirts of Niamey. Hope you’ve enjoyed seeing some of my country through my new eyes to this region!
