nope - he (she?) is wild and wanders around. I rarely see them as they are out and about at dark. but they are also small enough to get in and out under the gate. so, I am not sure if I always have one or not. This one, I had been talking with my guard about hedgehogs for Fulfulde practice (hedgehog = hunuure) and asked if they only lived by the river. That night he caught one for me in the yard so I could see one.
they get their name because in Britain, they really do live in the hedges. People put out saucers of milk for the at night and sometimes fruit etc. I guess you don't want to incourage them sadly.
