Musings from a Confused Mind...

So I have made it back to Calgary after six months away in Quebec!!!

The most obvious change has been the change of colour - I moved from piles and piles (and piles . . .) of snow to just barely a dusting.

However, the more subtle change has been in language:

When I flew in on the airport, I went to the washroom before leaving and noted that the little girl in the next stall was talking to her mom. The first thought in my head was 'Hey! That little girl speaks English!!'. And then I remembered, I was in Calgary and most everyone speaks English!

I also find it odd to be speaking in English! In most circumstances I find that I have to concentrate in order to make sure that I speak in English - most small phrases are coming into my head in French first!! If I don't think through my words first, they are coming out in French.

I have also spent the last six months worshiping at church in French, and though I would have thought that I would look forward to an English church service again, I found myself translating the worship songs and sermon yesterday into French!!

Yes. It has been an extremely odd and amusing transition back into the English world! And I have found that I miss speaking French!!
